We believe that every child deserves access to the highest quality literacy instruction, which is why we adhere to the Structured Literacy framework. This evidence-based approach ensures that children are taught reading through explicit, systematic instruction that covers all essential components, including phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
Our methods align with the Science of Reading, a body of research that synthesizes decades of studies on how children learn to read. We use data-driven strategies that support all learners, especially those who may struggle with reading. By focusing on the foundational skills that are critical for reading success, we aim to build confident, competent readers who can navigate increasingly complex texts.

We’re passionate about literacy. Here’s why:
In our word-filled world, literacy goes beyond reading and writing. It shapes our ability to learn, communicate, and navigate opportunities, influencing every aspect of our lives. Without it, we risk exclusion and limit our capacity to actively engage in the community around us. That’s why Kiss Your Brain believes in multi-sensory education that builds both language comprehension and word recognition.
Whether you’re looking for literacy resources for your homeschool, classes for your emerging reader, tutoring for your struggling reader, or information on how children learn to read, you’ve found the right place.

LITERACY IS A RIGHT
Literacy is a civil right. Without the ability to read, we struggle to be gainfully employed, read contracts, get drivers licenses and more. Children that cannot read are more likely to drop out of school and illiterate adults make up a huge portion of the prison population.
THERE’S HOPE
Research has shown that we can learn to read at any age. We believe in the science of reading that includes direct, explicit, systematic, sequential and diagnostic strategies to teach phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
FAQs
How Long Do Sessions Last?
Sessions last 55-60 minutes. Please note that from time to time children with difficulties such as ADHD or working memory challenges may be released early. We will not push your child beyond their capacity. We’re here to make education and learning impactful. Children who have reached their limit are neither learning nor learning to love education. Because of this, we may end sessions early to accommodate your child’s needs. Please reach out to us should you have questions or concerns about this policy.

Will You Give My Child an Assessment Before We Begin?
Absolutely. We will assess your child before sessions begin (for free) to determine where they are and where we should start. Kiss Your Brain is proud to be diagnostic and prescriptive
How Do I Pay For Tutoring?
Invoices for tutoring are emailed once a month, typically on the first of the month for that month’s scheduled sessions. The sessions may be paid via the invoice or via another pre-arranged payment method.
Should I Choose Group Classes or 1:1 Tutoring?
This is your decision to make, however, we recommend 1:1 tutoring for children suspected of dyslexia. We would be happy to discuss this further over the phone.
What If I Miss a Pre-Paid Session?
We require a 24-hour notice of cancellation. Cancellations with an appropriate notice may be credited or rescheduled. Last-minute cancellations (less than 24 hours) will not be rescheduled or credited unless there is an emergency. Please refer to your contract for additional information.
